Ok, so, there’s a season 2, or what?
At the outset, this seemed like we were finally gonna have a show where the FL is actually the one who is wrong (and knows she is), instead of endless stories about some poor downtrodden Candy character that is actually misunderstood and everyone is against her while her own stupidity leads her further and further down the path to damnation.
Alas, twas not to be. Yasemine goes through the whole show offended at everyone, acting like her behavior never contributed to the situations she found herself in. She had numerous opportunities to tell the truth and craft her own narrative, but took none of them. Yes, when the truth finally came to light, Cem could have handled that better. Sure. But he begged her to explain and she straight up told him no. “Why don’t you trust me and believe in me,” she cries in anger. I don’t know, could have something to do with how you constantly lie to me, conceal information that concerns the two of us, not just you, and refuse to explain anything when asked. What the f*ck did she expect Cem to do in that situation?
I hate when shows do this and I hate how it portrays women. Why is Cem begging for her forgiveness when they were both wrong? It implies that Yasemine doesn’t have to be responsible for the consequences of her own agency. SHE made poor decisions. SHE lied when she could have told the truth. SHE continued to lie because of her own insecurities. SHE repeatedly refused to ask for help or take comfort when it was offered. But somehow Cem has to take responsibility and beg forgiveness for the completely normal conclusions he came to based on the level of information he had and the patterns of behavior he was familiar with. Like I said, I HATE when shows do this. It makes it seem like men constantly have to make up this gap in responsibility and perpetuates this ridiculous misconception that women are not responsible for their own agency. Nonsense.

Side comment: Arda is terrifying. W.T.F? How could anyone do that their own blood.
    Final Grade: B
Cem is carrying the show here with his beautiful expressions and emotions. Yasemine gets on my nerves.
