To be fair, Dilbura didn’t stab Aziz in the back…she couldn’t wait for someone she was told was dead. But I like the twist of Efnan who suits Aziz better. This series looks promising.
The real problem with Dilruba is that she’s faithless. You are correct, you can’t wait for a dead man, so she has no fault for getting engaged. But to her lover’s COUSIN? No, that ain’t right. And then after she’s made that promise, for the securement of wealth, I might add, she just chucks it all without a second thought to supposedly escape into the woods with Aziz, who is now destitute. So promises made of your own free will and obligations mean absolutely nothing to you, huh Dilruba?
To add insult to injury, she’s also useless and can contribute nothing to a partner relationship with Aziz’s current circumstances; that little French sympathizer has no interest in the peasants, knows nothing about work, and seems completely unbothered by her people’s oppression and the French occupation of her city because it’s not directly interfering with her charmed little life. They have diametrically opposing values and interests: they were a bad match from the start.
I’m pretty sure this is just the Turkish version of Poldark. With, you know, very unsurprising changes to make it more appealing to a Turkish audience. Which means that they’ve toned down the MLs arrogance and pride a bit (that got him into quite a lot of trouble in Poldark), and are very unlikely to do the infidelity plotlines for both the leads. And, of course, they like threw a whole bunch more family into the mix (an illegitimate half brother, what?} because the Turks do love FAMILY dramas.
Anyway, the visuals are nice and it looks promising.
